A new half-hour sketch comedy series, Tallboy premiered on CBC September 17th 2019. It starred the four members of acclaimed Toronto-based sketch comedy troupe TallBoyz II Men – Vance Banzo, Guled Abdi, Franco Nguyen, and Tim Blair, who alternated between playing heightened versions of themselves and sliding into cartoonish sketches about friendship, politics, bro culture and everyday life.
Produced by Accent Entertainment, Tallboyz was created by Guled Abdi, Vance Banzo, Tim Blair, and Franco Nguyen with Adam Bovoletis and Luc Mandl. Bruce McCulloch was Executive Producer and Director, and Susan Cavan was Executive Producer. Paula Smith was Supervising Producer, Caitlin Brown was Co-Producer and Jen Goodhue was Consulting Producer.
On May 27th 2020 the CBC announced that Tallboyz had been renewed, and would return to the CBC schedule in the winter of 2020-2021
