Our Fellow Americans

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1976

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Thursday nights from May 27 to August 5, 1976.

To mark the bicentennial of the United States, Sam Levene produced this 8 part series profiling American life. Larry Solway wrote and narrated the stories which aimed to provide a regional representation of our neighbours to the south.

Each episode featured an interview with a notable citizen. For example, Solway talked to Bunker Hunt, Texas billionaire; Lester Maddox, Governor of Georgia, Studs Terkel, Chicago historian and Ray Bradbury, science fiction writer, in California.

The other shows featured some popular U.S. destinations, including New York, Boston, Newport, the state of Florida and the Mississippi River.
