Film critics Brian Johnson and Liz Braun originally hosted On The Arts from 1991 to 1994. David Gilmour hosted the program from 1994 to 1997, but various changes to the format brought about a re-launch with Laurie Brown, a former host from MuchMusic and The New Music on CITY-TV.
The program was a mix of pop culture and high Art offering viewers interviews and stories on a wide range of international cultural activities. Brown conducted most of the interviews on the show with contributions from Ralph Benmergui, Cynthia MacDonald, Christopher Heard and Ross Porter.
