The TV soap opera L’or et le papier was broadcast between 1989 and 1992. The first episode, which aired on October 18, 1989, featured a family of industrialists, the Laflammes, whose ambitious father Raymond neglected his kin in favour of his company, Les Papiers La Source, that was undertaking a spectacular breakthrough in France. 

During the first season, Radio-Canada aired 26 episodes of the series. This TV soap opera, a France-Quebec co-production written by Guy Fournier in cooperation with Jean Chatenet, was directed by Jean Beaudin and Nino Monti. It starred Raymond Bouchard, Louise Turcot, Marina Orsini, Fanny Lauzier, Marc-André Coallier and Jean-François Garreaud.

In 1992, the authors Michelle Allan, Guy Fournier and Wayne Grigsby wrote a sequel to the initial series and Radio-Canada aired 13 more episodes of the series beginning on September 9. This next instalment was directed by François Côté and Peter Pearson.
