On May 31st 2011, The Food Network announced the introduction of a new Canadian prime time series to their Fall 2011 schedule. Recipe to Riches was a new one-hour reality series, in which Canadians with unusual and innovative new recipes competed for the right to have their recipe chosen as a new President’s Choice brand. Former star of The Bachelor Jesse Palmer hosted the series, with panelists Laura Calder, Tony Chapman and Dana McCauley.
Each episode produced a winner, and on the season finale a grand prize of $250,000 was awarded to the creator of the recipe deemed to be the ‘best of the best’.
On May 21st 2013, the CBC announced that Recipe to Riches would become part of the network’s 2014 winter schedule. Auditions were scheduled for the summer in select cities across Canada, and it was later announced that the series would debut on CBC on February 26th 2014.
The chosen judges were Arlene Dickinson, Gail Simmons and Vikram Vij.
