On March 11, the CRTC approved an application by Radio Vallacquoise inc.for a broadcasting licence to operate a French-language low-power developmental community FM radio station in Val-des-Lacs. It would operate at 106.5 MHz (channel 293VLP) with an effective radiated power of 5 watts (non-directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of -3.8 metres). The licence would expire August 31, 2017. The applicant committed to broadcast at least 84 hours of local programming per broadcast week.

In November, CHVL received approval to upgrade its status from developmental community to regular low power community.
