Quelle famille

Network: Société Radio-Canada (SRC) TV Network

Broadcast Run: 1969 to 1974

Broadcast Medium: Television

From its first airing in 1969 until the finale in 1974, the TV soap opera Quelle famille! maintained its position as one of the most popular shows in French Canada. The scenes from the daily lives of the Tremblay family, with their five children and their dog Macaire, touched, entertained and even educated a vast public, made up primarily of children and adolescents. This series was exported to five francophone countries, namely, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Monte-Carlo.

In this TV soap opera, each problem, whether it was the broken heart of the eldest child, an adolescent crisis of the next eldest or the eccentric behaviour of the youngest child, would be resolved with humour, candour and exceptionally well-written dialogue.

The authors, Janette Bertrand and Jean Lajeunesse, also played the roles of the mother and father of this family.
