One of the first educational television programs dedicated to teaching English as a second language. Seventy-eight 30-minute lessons were prepared and produced by the CBC in association with the Metropolitan Education Television Association, Canadian Scene, the Ontario Government and the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration in Ottawa.
The weekend lessons were supplemented by reviews every Wednesday morning. The format was simple: everyday uses for the language were illustrated using audio/visual clues and short skits. One of the teachers was Barry Callaghan, poet and teacher from the University of Toronto. The other teachers were John Wevers and Betty Fullerton.
Producers: Peggy Nairn, Rena Elmer
