Aired Friday nights from October 1966 to July, 1967. Repeated in summer of 1968.
In a rare programming move, the CBC picked up this show from producer Syd Banks after a run on CTV. This show featured folk music and tried to capitalize on the early 60s revival of protest music. Alas, this was a considerably more ‘politically correct’ program than those produced on location at various Universities.
Singer/songwriter Oscar Brand was the host. Musical guests included Phil Ochs, Josh White Jr., Eric Andersen and Tom Rush. The format was had some similarities to an American program called Hootenanny. CTV aired the show for three seasons beginning in 1963. The show was exported to the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
