In 2013, Ethnic Channels Group signed an agreement with Al Jazeera Media Network, owner of beIN Sports, to launch a version of that brand in Canada. On January 31, 2014, beIN Sports was launched in this country. In August of the same year, the CRTC gave Ethnic Channels permission to distribute the Spanish version of beIN Sports in Canada. The Spanish channel originated in the U.S.
