Ken Finkleman, creator of The Newsroom, created this hour-long series of six episodes that took place in the fictional Château Rousseau, a metropolitan hotel. It was the story of a writer [played by Mathew Edison] who was preparing a book about the history of the hotel and its mysterious past. Two murders separated by 40 years served as the core of the narrative of what was essentially a miniseries.
At the Hotel provided work for a large group of Canadian actors. Finkleman himself not not play a continuing role, but did a Hitchcockian appearance as a member of a film crew in one episode.
Co-written by Finkleman with Ellen Vanstone and Morwyn Brebner, the series was a mix of drama, satire, musical and comedy. Produced in association with CBC by 100 Percent Film & Television Inc.
