The new half-hour series 18 to Life debuted on the CBC on January 4th 2010. Set in Montreal, the domestic comedy depicted the trials and tribulations of Jessie and Tim, a couple that got married at the tender age of 18. Their respective parents, who were next-door neighbours and polar opposites, disapproved,  and even their peers felt they had done the wrong thing.

The cast included Stacey Farber as Jessie and Michael Seater as Tom, with Peter Keleghan, Al Goulem, Ellen David and Angela Asher as their parents, Also in the cast were Jesse Rath, Tiio Horn, Tommie-Amber Pirie and Ariel Shiri.

18 to Life was created, written and executive produced by Derek Schreyer and Karen Troubetzkoy, and directed by Peter Wellington. The series was produced by Montreal’s Galafilm. The U.S. ABC Network co-financed the pilot, but did not elect to continue their involvement when CBC committed to the series. However the U.S. CW network picked up the series.

The series returned for its second season in January 2011, and ran for thirteen episodes to March 28th.

The series was not included in the list of CBC series which were announced on February 13th 2011 as returning for the 2011-2012 season.
