This half hour musical history program was produced by Neil Sutherland
in Vancouver. The series of six episodes documented the evolution of
Ragtime music, often considered the “Father of Jazz”. [The mother was
the Blues].
Some of the best piano players in this field were featured, including Eubie Blake, Max Morath, Dick Wellstood, Milton Kaye and Dick Hyman. Also on the show
was Nexus, the percussion ensemble, and the Canadian Brass, which served to showcase the versatility of the music on different instruments.
