The Great Canadian Baking Show

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 2017

Broadcast Medium: Television

The Great Canadian Baking Show was CBC’s homegrown take on the hit UK format The Great British Bake Off. The series premiered November 1, 2017 on CBC, and brought together 10 amateur bakers from across the country to compete in a series of themed culinary challenges that celebrated their diverse backgrounds, families and communities. Each of the eight one-hour episodes in the first series featured three rounds: The Signature Bake, the Technical Bake and the Show Stopper. After the judges tasted and critiqued the bakes, they crowned one Star Baker and asked one baker to leave the tent. The final three bakers competed for the Great Canadian Baking Show title.

The show was hosted by Dan Levy and Julia Chan, and the judges were French chef Bruno Feldeisen and Canadian-Australian pastry chef Rochelle Adonis.

CBC Television announced on February 7, 2018 that the series was renewed for a second season, and all hosts and judges would be returning. The series was renewed for a third season in 2019.

The series was produced by Proper Television in association with the CBC and Love Productions.

On May 27th 2020, the CBC announced that the Great Canadian Baking Show would return to the schedule in the winter of 2020-21.
