The Rovers’ Comedy House
Aired Thursday nights from January 8 to February 19, 1981. Repeated
Saturday nights from May 9 to June 13, 1981.
This half hour musical variety series featured four members of the
Irish Rovers, who changed their name by dropping the ‘Irish’ part in 1980. This show was produced in Vancouver by Ken Gibson and featured a mix of music and humour from a wide variety of guests. Jimmy Kennedy made regular appearances, along with Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy, Oscar Brand, Bruno Gerussi, Andy
Stewart and Dennis Day.
The Rovers: Will Millar, George Millar, Jimmy Ferguson, and Wilcil McDowell.
The series was cut short due to a NABET strike in the spring of 1981, when
all CBC productions were brought to halt for several months.
