A U.S. program whose format was owned by Baltimore-based Bert and Nancy Klaster, Romper Room was a Canadian version of the daily half-hour program for pre-school children. Female hosts went to Romper Room School in Baltimore to learn the key elements that were to be included in each day’s program. An invited group of children took part in each show, which had several regular features including Mr. Doo-Bee and the Magic Mirror.

CTV’s Kitchener affiliate CKCO-TV was responsible for producing the series for CTV affiliates, and hosts included Betty Thompson and Fran Pappert. Romper Room entered the CTV daytime schedule in September 1966. It was delivered 8:30 – 9:00am for stations to schedule where they chose.The series became known as Romper Room and Friends in 1983. It was finally dropped from network service at the end of the 1991-92 season.
