The one-hour Ransom series, starring Luke Roberts, Nazneen Contractor, Brandon Jay McLaren and Sarah Greene, premiered on Global on January 1st 2017 and the first season ran for thirteen episodes, concluding on April 13th 2017. It was inspired by the exploits of top crisis negotiator Laurent Combalbert, whose talents put him in demand “helping multinational corporations and government agencies with complex negotiations and conflict resolution”.
Ransom was created by Frank Spotnitz and David Vainola, who acted as Executive Producers. It was produced by Entertainment One and Sienna Films.
Karen Le Blanc joined the cast for season 2, which ran on Global from April 7th to June 30th 2018, with Emma de Caunes and Carlo Rota appearing in recurring roles.
On July 16th 2018 Global announced that Ransom had been renewed for a third season. Shooting would begin in Budapest on October 2018, and the series would return to the Global schedule in 2019.
The series was also seen on CBS in the U.S.
Season Three ran on Global from February 16th to May 25th 2019, and the series was not rnewed for a fourth season.
