Taqramiut Nipingat was founded on September 8, 1975 to offer the Nunavik region of Quebec a regional radio network and a community television network. All of the radio stations operated at 94.1 MHz on the FM band. The TV service offered Nunavimmiut new and old TNI television programming. In English, the service’s name meant Voice of the People. TNI operated out of Dorval as well as Salluit, Kuujjuaq and Puvirnituq.
