On February 25, the CRTC approved an application by Dufferin Communications Inc. for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language commercial FM radio station in Clarence-Rockland. Dufferin was a wholly owned subsidiary of Evanov Communications Inc., a corporation controlled by Mr. William Evanov. The new station would operate on frequency 92.5 MHz (channel 223A) with an effective radiated power of 300 watts (non-directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 60 metres). The station would also feature weather, sports and special features such as health watch, agricultural reports, new music reports, marine/golf/ski/seasonal reports and a community calendar. The licence would expire 31 August 2019.
On October 7, CHRC Jewel 92.5 began on-air testing. Since September, the station had been broadcasting online.
CHRC Jewel 925 officially began broadcasting on October 15.
