1979
On May 7, Brock University Students’ Union Inc. was granted a licence for a new carrier current station to serve portions of the university campus. It would broadcast on 640 kHz with a power of 20 watts.
1997
Brock Radio Collective, on behalf of a company to be incorporated (Brock University Student Radio) was granted a licence on January 30 for a new FM campus/community station at St. Catharines. It would broadcast on a frequency of 103.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 250 watts. The station would broadcast 105 hours of local programming per week, including 14 hours of ethnic program content.
CFBU-FM signed on the air later in the year. The “BU” in the call sign represented Brock University. Studios and offices were located at 500 Glenridge Avenue and the transmitter was atop Schmon Tower – both at Brock University.
2002
CFBU went silent in July.
2003
CFBU returned to the air in May.
2007
On May 22 the CRTC renewed CFBU-FM’s licence until August 31, 2014.
2014
On May 27th, the CRTC renewed the licence for CFBU-FM for a further seven years, to August 31st 2021.
