CKYM-FM, 88.7myFM, Napanee
My Broadcasting Corporation|
On November 21, My Broadcasting Corporation received approval for an FM station at Napanee. It would operate at 88.7 MHz with an average effective radiated power of 5,000 watts. An Adult Contemporary music format was proposed. Over 90% of the programming would be local while the remainder would be drawn from sister station, CHMY-FM in Renfrew. The station would also broadcast at least two hours of programming in Aboriginal languages during each broadcast week.
CKYM “88.7 MY FM” signed on the air at 6:00 a.m., September 13. It is the fifth station in the MY FM group. Studios and offices were located at 20 Market Square in Napanee. Jon Pole and Andrew Dickson are the owners of My Broadcasting Corp.
The CRTC approved the change to the ownership of My Broadcasting Corporation, for estate planning purposes, through the transfer of Andrew Dickson and Jon Pole’s voting interest in My Broadcasting (35.05% each) to their respective family trusts. The transaction did not affect the effective control of the licensee, which continued to be exercised jointly by Andrew Dickson and Jon Pole. My Broadcasting was the licensee of various radio programming undertakings in Ontario.
