2004
On November 26, Rogers Broadcasting Ltd. was awarded licences for new FM News/Talk stations at Halifax, Moncton and Saint John. The Halifax transmitter would operate on 95.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 22,100 watts. All three stations would share live broadcasts.
2005
On October 11 at 5:30 a.m., CJNI-FM Halifax, CKNI-FM Moncton and CHNI-FM Saint John, officially signed on the air. “News 95.7 – News. Talk. Sports” had studios and offices at 6080 Young Street (9th floor) in Halifax.
2008
Early on the morning of December 2nd, Ted Rogers, founder and former Chief Executive of Rogers Communications, owners of CJNI-FM, died at his home in Toronto, after having suffered from congestive heart failure for some time.
2009
Danny Kingsbury was named general manager – Atlantic Canada for Rogers. He would be based in Halifax and would be responsible for the Moncton and Saint John markets as well.
2010
News 95.7 talk show Host Andrew Krystal did his last broadcast July 30 and then moved on to sister Rogers station Fan 590 Toronto. Jordi Morgan, formerly with CBC Halifax, joined News95.7 as host of Maritime Morning. He succeeded Andrew Krystal who went to mornings at The Fan 590 Toronto. Rick Howe launched a new afternoon talk show that also aired on News91.9 Moncton and News88.9 Saint John. He’d been with the Halifax station since August, 2008, doing an afternoon news wheel program.
2011
On August 31, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence for CJNI-FM to December 31, 2011. After 50 years on the air, Tom Young announced that he would retire on July 29. He had been doing an afternoon talk show since 2005, on News 95.7 Halifax, News 91.9 Moncton and News 88.9 Saint John and was based in Saint John. Scott Bodnarchuk became retail sales manager at Rogers Radio Atlantic in Halifax on May 30. Doug Reynolds, the morning show anchor at News 95.7 since 2005, moved to become the morning show news anchor at 660News Calgary. He began his 32-year career at CJCB Sydney and later worked for CKDH Amherst and CJCH Halifax. Reynolds began in Calgary September 26. He succeeded Ted Henley who moved to Citytv Calgary as co-Host of Breakfast Television. Henley began at Citytv September 6. Dan Ahlstrand, host of the New Brunswick Morning News on Rogers’ news stations in Saint John and Moncton, moved to Halifax to become morning news co-anchor on News95.7. He succeeded Doug Reynolds who moved to another Rogers property, 660News Calgary, as morning Anchor.
2012
Danny Kingsbury, the General Manager of the Rogers Atlantic radio properties (Moncton, Saint John and Halifax), added the Kingston, Ontario, stations (K-Rock, Kix 93.5 and The Lake) to his portfolio. He would now be based in Kingston. On August 28, the CRTC administratively renewed CJNI’s licence until March 31, 2013.
2013
On March 28, the CRTC renewed the licence of CJNI-FM to August 31, 2019. The Commission approved the applicant’s request to decrease the amount of programming CJNI-FM was required to devote to local programming each broadcast week from 50% to 33%. On November 6, News 95.7 refreshed its programming schedule, partnering with Sportsnet 590 The FAN to deliver new, premium sports radio content to Halifax. During the weekdays from 5 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., News 95.7 would continue to deliver its multiplatform newswheel coverage.
2014
Danny Kingsbury became VP & General Manager for Rogers Radio in Ottawa, Kingston and Halifax.
