2003
On June 11, Hope FM Ministries Ltd. (Barry Reid) was awarded a licence for a low-power English specialty FM station at Truro, operating on 98.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50 watts. Antenna height would be 15 metres with the tower located on Harmony Ridge. The station would provide a Christian music service and broadcast a minimum of 22 hours per week of local station-produced programming, including some live programming from Monday to Friday. CINU “Hope-FM” signed on the air in September. Studios and offices were located at 833 Prince St.
2008
Late in the year CINU-FM received approval to decrease effective radiated power from 50 watts to 30 watts, increase antenna height (EHAAT) from 15 metres to 78 metres, and slightly change the antenna site location (same site, different tower).
2009
On September 3, the CRTC authorized CINU-FM to change frequency from 98.5 MHz to 106.3 MHz. All other technical parameters would remain unchanged. The frequency change was requested in order to resolve an interference issue with CKRH-FM Halfax, a new community station approved in 2006, using 98.5 MHz.
2010
On June 30, the CRTC renewed the broadcasting licence for the English-language specialty radio station CINU-FM Truro from 1 July 2010 to 31 August 2013. This short-term licence renewal will enable the Commission to review, at an earlier date, the licensee’s compliance with the Radio Regulations, 1986 and its conditions of licence. In Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2009-786, the Commission stated that the licensee may have failed to comply with section 9(2) of the Radio Regulations, 1986, which relates to the provision of annual returns, for the broadcast years 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. The Commission also stated that the licensee may have failed to comply with its condition of licence relating to contributions to Canadian talent development, for the 2006 broadcast year.
2020
On January 24, CINU-FM received a short-term licence renewal to August 31, 2021 due to ongoing issues of non-compliance.
