2003
On July 23, CAB-K Broadcasting Ltd. was awarded an FM licence for Olds. The station would operate at 97.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 13,000 watts. All of the programming broadcast by the new station would be locally produced. The music format would be country. The applicant stated that it would provide opportunities for high school and college students to develop on-air broadcasting skills.
2004
On February 2, “CK-FM 97.7” launched with a format featuring country music of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and Today.
2007
On August 13 the CRTC approved applications by CAB-K Broadcasting and Rawlco Radio Ltd. requesting technical changes for their respective radio stations. CAB-K’s CKLJ-FM would change frequency from 97.7 MHz to 96.5 MHz; increase effective radiated power from 13,000 watts to 35,000 watts; and increase antenna height. CKLJ would simulcast its programming at 97.7 and 96.5 MHz for three months. Rawlco was authorized to change the frequency for its proposed new Calgary station from 100.3 MHz to 97.7 MHz, and increase power and antenna height.
2008
96.5 CK-fm All Hit Country (CKLJ) welcomed new sister station CKJX-FM on May 30. The new station offered a Classic Hits format. Studios and offices were co-located with CKLJ-FM at 6-4526 49th Avenue.
2010
On May 28, the CRTC renewed the licence of CKLJ-FM until August 31, 2016.
2016
CKLJ program director Brian Stephenson passed away in September at age 54. He had been with the station since 2004.
