2006

Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. received approval on August 2 to operate a new commercial FM station in High River/Okotoks. The company already owned CHRB-AM and CFXL-FM in the market. The new station, whose callsign would be CFXO-FM,  would broadcast on a frequency of 99.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 18,000 watts. All programming would be local and the format would be Contemporary Rock targeted to listeners under the age of 35. The format was currently available in the market only from Calgary radio stations.

2007

CFXO-FM Sun Country 99.7 FM signed on the air October 30 at 7:00 a.m. Studios and offices were co-located with CHRB and CFXL at 11 – 5 Avenue S. E. in High River. As indicated by the Sun Country name, the format was Country rather than the originally proposed Contempoary Rock.

2008

100.9 CFXL became CKUV. The CFXL call sign went back to Calgary.

2009

The new Station/Sales Manager at The Eagle 100.9 (CKUV)/AM 1140 (CHRB) and CFXO Okotoks was Tara DeWitt. She’d been with Golden West Broadcasting for five and a half years, starting as a junior sales consultant. From there, DeWitt moved up, progressing to her last job as Sales and Operations Manager for all three stations.

2012

Kristen Gilchrist moved from Golden West Broadcasting High River to join CHAT 94.5/MY96 Medicine Hat as Producer.

CKUV-FM changed format from Classic Hits / Hot Adult Contemporary to Classic Rock, keeping “The Eagle” branding.
