Aired on various days and times, usually four times a year, from September 1977 to September, 1982.

This 90 minute public affairs program was aimed at issues of national interest. It usually aired four times a year. Barbara Frum hosted the program.

The subject matter was usually topical, including extensive coverage of federal-provincial relations. In fact, the show debuted with an exploration of the Parti Quebecois, under the leadership of Rene Levesque who had been elected the year before. Subsequent programs examined the energy crisis, unemployment, aboriginal land claims, the family, the West, and Canada’s natural resources.

Producers for the series included George Robertson, Louise Lore, Richard Bocking and Pierre Castonguay, and the executive producer was Ray Hazzan.
