Aired once a month, on Tuesday nights, from November 1974 to March 1975.
This monthly public affairs program was set in a magazine format, offering its staff the opportunity to do lighter stories as well as investigative reports. Don McNeill hosted the show with contributions from Larry Zolf, Martyn Burke and Ralph Thomas.
Some of the stories they covered included an interview with Idi Amin, the notorious leader of Uganda. Israel’s Minister of Defense, Moshe Dayan, was profiled, along with Doug Henning, Winnipeg-born master of illusion. One of the more interesting segments included a documentary about Canada’s image in Hollywood. It was produced by Peter Rowe and titled, Backlot Canada.
The executive producer of Prime Time was Sam Levene. The show’s title was used again on a CBC Radio show in the 1980s. That show was hosted by Geoff Pevere.
