Ovide and the Gang was an animated series designed not only to entertain but to also educate young people about television’s influence on their world. The peace-loving duck-billed platypus Ovide was the village chief. He and his friends inhabited an island paradise where television tuned them into the outside world. Ovide’s nemesis was the venomous villain Cy the snake who was aided by his bumbling pal Bob the toucan. Cy and Bob were influenced by certain TV programs to cause havoc for Ovide. But Ovide was aided by an intrepid gang, including Polo the lizard, Woodworm, the jokester Groaner, egomaniac Saffron, sleepy sloth Alvin, the rhyming koala triplets Do, Re, Mi, and Matilda the kangaroo, the island’s femme fatale, who all helped him thwart Cy and Bob.
