Following the remarkable success of The Amazing Race on CBS, Phil Keoghan, host and creator, developed a new Canadian program designed to breakdown the barriers people impose on themselves. No Opportunity Wasted featured Canadian contestants who were given 72 hours, and $3000, to complete a mental or physical challenge. For Keoghan, who developed the series based on one aired in New Zealand, “it’s about focusing on what you have and what you can do, rather than making excuses to avoid one’s fear.”
The host was Bruce Kirby, and the series first ran on the Discovery Channel in 2004. It premiered on the CBC on October 3rd 2007 and ran for 10 episodes. It was not renewed, but Phil Keogan went on to host The Amazing Race on CBS.
