On September 29th 2009 Corus Entertainment Inc announced an agreement with MTV Networks International whereby a 24-hour Canadian version of the Nickelodeon program service for children would be launched in Canada on November 2nd 2009.
The new specialty channel would have exclusive rights in Canada to all current Nickelodeon animated programming, as well as live action series and all digital rights for Nickelodeon and related brands. Included would be such series as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Ren and Stimpy and The Rugrats.
