One of a long line of daytime game shows that graced the CTV schedule in the sixties, seventies and eighties, Mad Dash was livelier than most. Creator/producer Sidney M. Cohen employed his contestants as game pieces on a snakes-and-ladders style game board painted on the studio floor, and success brought winners cash or merchandise prizes.
The half-hour series was hosted by Pierre Lalonde, and produced at CTV affiliate CFCF-TV in Montreal. The announcer was Nick Hollinrake. It made its network debut in September 1978, and had a three-year run before being cancelled in the fall of 1981. 130 episodes of Mad Dash, retitled Duety Do Mety, were later produced in Poland, included some children’s specials. The format was also licensed to several other countries.
