Taking its name from the epic Greek poem, Works and Days, by the poet Hesiod who lived in the 8th century BC, Les travaux et les jours, the forerunner of La Semaine Verte (1971), was a weekly agriculture and horticulture magazine-type program. Raymond Laplante was the host. In the 1960s, the agrologists Germain Lefebvre, Paul Boutet, Jean-Guy Roy and Gustave Laroque were invited regularly onto the program and became celebrities recognized all across the Province of Quebec.
