In the serial drama, L’héritage, Victor-Lévy Beaulieu described the problems encountered by a family from Trois-Pistoles, in which the father, Xavier, was an unbearably authoritarian figure.
The series debuted on SRC on September 30th 1987, and from then until 1990, Radio-Canada broadcast 86 episodes of L’héritage. This serial drama was directed by Raymonde Boucher, Louis-Georges Carrier, Lise Chayer, Jean-Marc Drouin, Maurice Falardeau, Aimé Forget, Michel Greco and Rolland Guay. The stars of this series included: Gilles Pelletier, Yves Desgagnés, Nathalie Gascon, Sylvie Léonard and Robert Gravel. “I’ve only acted in roles with great scripts, but the greatest part that I was ever given the chance to play in my whole career was that of Xavier Galarneau,” claimed Gilles Pelletier at a screening of the celebrated episode of Xavier’s death.
