In this animated series, Inspector Gadget was a bumbling detective that tried to fight criminals with his unusual machine-like appendages that included extendable claws, propellers, springs and other devices. His main nemesis was Dr. Claw, the evil director of enemy agency MAD (Mean and Dirty). Inspector Gadget was ably helped by his niece, Penny and her dog, Brain, who actually did most of the dirty work, unbeknownst to Gadget’s boss, Chief Quimby.

Don Adams was the voice of Inspector Gadget; Cree Summer (1984-1985) and Holly Berger (1985-1986) provided Penny’s voice; Frank Welker was Brain, Dr. Claw and MAD Cat; and Maurice LaMarche was Chief Quimby.
