House and Home With Lynda Reeves

This half-hour show, based on the popular Canadian House & Home magazine, brought a new look to decorating and design shows.  Home design guru and publisher of Canadian House and Home, Lynda Reeves investigated both sides of the most talked about design debates by taking viewers into the best homes in the country, including her own.

In addition to touring two homes in every episode, the show also got the opinions of industry experts including exclusive access to the editors at Canadian House & Home magazine. Some of the issues tackled included, “Living Naked: Are you Ready for Minimalism?” and “Is The Decorator Dead?”

Reeves tackled a variety of house and home renovation and decorating challenges and trends, often stemming from editorial content in her magazine.  On location segments showed actual homes to illustrate both the challenges and solutions achieved, while guest show experts discussed the work done in some detail.  Other segments of the show tackled a variety of common house needs, such as laying down new flooring or how to downsize from a large home to a condo.  Lynda interviewed architects, designers, and decorators, often looking at their own personal homes to see how they applied their expertise to their own living spaces.  The show also addressed topics like how to decorate for less or find ways to utilize existing furniture and decorations but in new, vibrant ways.  Lynda then shared various things she did with her own home in a segment called My House.

In addition to the television series, the partnership with CanWest MediaWorks included a book publishing deal and a newspaper column written by Reeves for CanWest’s major market newspapers, including the National Post.
