A half-hour, puppet show for children, produced in Ottawa, featured Gertrude Diddle, the craggy and brassy mayor of a town called Crabgrass, who was widely thought to be a satire of Ottawa mayor Charlotte Whitton. She lived in a Victorian house with a beagle named Basil, a 900 year old dragon called Durwood, Wolfgang the Wolf, and Chico the Crow.The show was written by Bob Gardiner and producers Audrey Jordan (until her death in l970), Denny Faulkner (l970-7l), and Brian Frappier (l97l-74).
Aired weekly, after school, from November 1969 to March 1976; selected repeats Spring 1977.
