Frankie Howerd Show

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1976

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Thursday nights from February to April, 1976. Repeated Saturday nights during the spring of 1976.
Frankie Howerd was a very popular British comedian whose claim to fame was the Carry On series of movies and Up Pompeii, a television series produced by the BBC. Howerd’s bawdy brand of humour was often seen on Canadian or American television, and by the time the CBC decided to produce this situation comedy he was a familiar face.
The premise was simple: Howerd, an unemployed British immigrant, had moved to a rooming house in Toronto. While there, he trid every occupation a man of his talents could get while maintaining a life in Canada. Through the course of the series, he had to confront the different Canadian institutions that might put him on the road to success. Unfortunately, he failed every time, much like the show itself.  It was canceled after 13 weeks.
