On August 9th 2013, the CRTC awarded Hollywood Suites Inc. a broadcasting licence to operate Dream, a national, English-language specialty Category B service that would be devoted to romance, as well as the lighter side of love and relationships. The programming would include series based on relationships, sexuality and gender issues, feature films, mini-series, made-for-television movies, relationships-themed game shows and magazine-style shows focusing on this genre and its stars.
