‘Da Kink in My Hair was a comedic drama based on playwright and actress trey anthony’s (sic) award-winning play of the same name.

Set at Letty’s, a bustling hair salon in Toronto’s Caribbean community, the show was a platform for a ensemble group of women to share their trials, tribulations and deep dark secrets. These strong, black women let their hair down – in more ways than one.  trey anthony played Joy, the zany younger sister of main character Novelette Campbell (played by Ordena Stephens-Thomson), Letty’s smart and vivacious owner. Novelette didn’t just style her clients’ hair, she knew just how to make them open up.  Ngozi Paul, the co-creator and co-executive producer of this new TV series, played Starr, a beautiful, wide-eyed young woman.  Paul was an original cast member of the original play.
