This summer series of 13 30-minute profiles was a co-production of the CBC, the BBC, Bayerischer Rundfunk [West Germany] and the NETA in the U.S. Like many of the programs from the 1960s, filmmakers from around the world made interesting and diverse bio-pics of writers, musicians, painters and designers. This series had profiles of writers: Norman Mailer, Max Frisch, James Jones; artists Jacques Lipschitz, Rufino Tamayo, Victor Vasarely, Maurice Bejart, Walter Gropius, Richard Smith; musicians: Pierre Boulez, Sonny Rollins and designer Sean Kenny and Oscar Niemeyer, architect. Programs had the same title: Who is…? with the name of the subject inserted each week.
Executive Producers: Allan King and Roger Graef
Directors: Dick Fontaine
