Canada’s 100th birthday celebrations climaxed on July 1, 1967. The CBC produced a number of historical programs leading up to the occasion and followed up with a series of music programs that reflected the country’s multi-culturalism.
Centennial International was a series of half-hour musicals specifically produced to feature the music of Europe, the Caribbean, South America and the British Isles.
Featured artists included Ivan Romanoff, Sergio Franchi, Ahuva Shai, the 48th Highlanders, the St. David United Welsh Choir, Chicho Valle and his orchestra, Jamaican singer Dick Smith, Isabel Santos and the Zemplin Slovak Dancers from the Czech Republic.
