Bobby Vinton Show, The

Network: CTV Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1975 to 1978

Broadcast Medium: Television

Songs like “Roses Are Red”, “Blue on Blue” and “Blue Velvet” put U.S. performer Bobby Vinton in the Hit Parade in the early 1960s, but it was his return to the record charts in the 1970s with My Melody of Love which caught the attention of Canadian producers Allan Blye and Chris Bearde, who brought him to Canada to do a musical variety series for CTV and for U.S. syndication. The U.S. connection inflated the budget enough to entice some fairly noteworthy U.S. guests, while Canadian regulars in the series included Billy Van and Jack Duffy.

The Bobby Vinton show was produced in the studios of CFTO-TV, Toronto. The series occupied early evening time periods on Tuesdays in the network schedule in 1975/76 and 1976/77, moving to Mondays at 7:00pm in the fall of 1977 until the end of its run in September 1978.
