BNN Bloomberg

Current Station Group: Bell Media Inc.

Report on Business Television was originally licensed in 1996 to the Globe and Mail, WIC and Cancom, and began its service in 1999.  It was acquired outright by CanWest Global in 2000, but was acquired by Bell Globemedia ( later CTVglobemedia)  in November of that year.

Operated under the aegis of CTV News, ROBTV provided business news of all kinds, as well as regular stock market ticker information, discussion and opinion pieces, and in general a broad reflection of the material that graced the pages of the Bell-owned Globe and Mail’s own Report on Business section.

On March 12th, CTVglobemedia rebranded the channel as BNN – Business News Network, with Jack Fleischmann as General Manager. Thereafter, the Report on Business brand reverted to being exclusively associated with the Globe and Mail.

On April 30, 2018, BNN was rebranded as BNN Bloomberg, after Bell Media reached a licensing and content agreement with Bloomberg L.P., of the U.S. Bloomberg had previously partnered with Channel Zero on Bloomberg TV Canada, which was shut down in October 2017.

On April 30, 2018, BNN Bloomberg Radio was launched on CFTE 1410 Vancouver (BNN Bloomberg Radio 1410). The new format featured a simulcast of BNN Bloomberg’s linear television broadcast and in-depth, live, long-form, specialty programming. On February 9, 2021, CKOC 1150 Hamilton became BNN Bloomberg’s second radio station (BNN Bloomberg Radio 1150).
