The specialty service (La Télé des Arts) ARTV was authorized by the CRTC on September 14, 2000. ARTV is the offspring of a partnership between Radio-Canada (37%), Télé-Québec (25%), CTVglobemedia (16%), Arte France (15%) and L’équipe Spectra (7%). ARTV is on the air 24 hours a day and is distributed over analog cable, digital cable and satellite broadcasting services. Launched on September 1, 2001, ARTV is a Quebec French language specialty TV channel that broadcasts variety programs, fictional works, movies and magazine-type programs devoted to culture and the arts. ARTV bears in mind the distinctiveness of Quebec culture and the needs and particularities of francophone communities in other regions all across Canada. In 2007, L’Équipe Spectra sold its interest in the service to the CBC. The following year saw CTVglobemedia sell its share to the CBC. In 2010, Télé-Québec sold its interest in ARTV to the CBC. On December 10, 2013, ARTV was re-branded as “Ici ARTV”.
