Adam or Ève was the first TV quiz show aired by Télé-Métropole, which was called Channel 10 at the time. It was broadcast in 1961, on Monday evenings at 19:30.
The show’s creators and hosts, Janette Bertrand and Jean Lajeunesse, a couple both at work and at home, had to think up eight games per half-hour program, which came to 300 per season!
Janette Bertrand, talking about the program, was quoted at the time in the newspaper La Presse: “It’s a parlour game formula that was very common in our homes prior to the arrival of television. When I was a child at home, it was a very popular form of entertainment. The general public is aware of our life together, Jean and I, they know that we can have fun and they really like playing along with us.”
