A la Canadienne

Network: TVA Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1972

Broadcast Medium: Television

In 1972, À la Canadienne was broadcast for the first time, and was hosted by André Lejeune who would then become a figure forever associated with Quebec folk songs and adapting them to modern times. Indeed, Lejeune would score folk songs with entirely new rhythms that were very lively and catchy most of the time.

In March 2007, André Lejeune was made a member of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, alongside Paul Anka, Claude Dubois and Raymond Lévesque, and where the major role played by the program À la Canadienne in the promotion and evolution of Quebec folk music was underlined.
