Broadcast Run: 1982

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Sunday nights from June 13 to June 27, 1982.

This short series of three hour-long programs looked at contemporary social issues: Suicide, Teenage Sexuality and Retirement.

The series was produced in Edmonton by Jack Emack, who also produced Catalyst Television Theatre the following year, and was shot on a studio set that mirrored the gymnasium of the Edmonton Institution, a maximum security federal penitentiary. The program dealt with issues a new inmate would encounter…rehabilitation, parole and certain inmate privileges (conjugal visits). The studio audience consisted of members of the inmate population, staff and invited guests. There were four dramatic scenes developed by the inmate population and staff, followed by audience reaction.
