Another of several half-hour game shows from the ‘format factory’ of Mark Goodson and Bill Todman in New York to make the journey north to Canada, Claim to Fame invited a celebrity panel to interview guests and discover what had made them famous in their field. The program was hosted by Mike McManus. The panels varied: one included Lois Maxwell, Valerie Pringle and Don Dickinson, while another was composed of Brian Linehan, Deborah Burgess and Harvey Atkin. Gil Fates came from Goodson-Todman to supervise the production in the studios of CTV affiliate station CJOH-TV Ottawa.
One of the last game shows to make it into the CTV prime time schedule, Claim to Fame started the 1982-83 CTV season on Tuesdays at 9:30pm, but had gone from the schedule very early in 1983.
