The National Film Board of Canada produced this series of 8 films about the province of British Columbia. The executive producers were Peter Jones and Ian McLaren.
Pacificanada was part of the on-going series of regional documentaries that included Adieu Alouette and West, also broadcast on CBC.
Episodes:
1] A Slow Hello, directed by Tom Radford, explored the development of cattle ranching in a province where one might not expect to find it.
2] Whistling Smith, directed by Martin Cannell and Michael Scott, told the story of a police sergeant working the troublesome Gastown neighbourhood of Vancouver.
3] Soccer, directed by Shelah Reljic, documented the growing popularity of the sport in local communities in B.C.
4] Where Are You Goin’ Company Town?, was directed by Stephen Dewar and told the story of the one-industry town of Trail, B.C.
5] Pen-Hi Grad, directed by Sandy Wilson, profiled a high school in Penticton.
6] David & Bert was the story of Chief David Frank and former prospector, Bert Clayton, two men in their 80s, from different cultures. The film was directed by Daryl Duke.
7] Baby This Is For You, directed by John Taylor, was the story of Stewart, B.C. near the Alaskan panhandle.
8] Bella Bella was the story of Campbell Island and its aboriginal people. The film was directed by Barbara Greene.
