Not just another half-hour cooking show – in this case, the ‘pots’ referred to were those to be found on the stomachs of some of the viewers, and the intent of the show was to steer viewers toward a combination of healthy eating and exercise. A side health benefit for the hosts, Ian and Judy Jamieson, was the fact that two adjacent studios were used for the production, one for the cooking part and one for the exercise. Since videotape editing wasn’t as sophisticated as it later became (or might it have been the added costs involved in editing?), Ian and Judy had to run backwards and forwards between studios during commercial breaks! Not only that, but five and sometimes six shows were produced in a day.
Blake Emmons and Bobby Curtola were among the celebrity guests, and the show generated an unusually high level of viewer mail in its one-year run on the network in the 1976-77 season. It was delivered to the affiliates at 6:30am each day, Monday-Friday, for them to schedule wherever they chose.
